and it's reminding me of how fucking good Morrowind is and how badly I need to play Morrowind again.
A lot of people seem to think Morrowind is more interesting than the later games primarily because it's weird and alien and has cool architecture and giant mushrooms but that's selling it short. Its real strength is in depicting a diverse, complex, believable society with history that informs the present and religious schisms and ethnic groups distinct from the games "races" and so on
