one of my main driving principals in life is i'd like people to take actions and adopt stances based on outcomes rather than vibes, not in like a vulgar utilitarianism sense but in a "please consider the actual consequences of your words and deeds" sense.
this comes up a lot as a prison and police abolitionist, where when you drive down to the core, a lot of people are willing to adopt policies that demonstrably increase crime across the board in order to satisfy an urge for vengeance, for instance. just this enormous disconnect in why people even want the things they want that i cannot even begin to understand and thus figure out how to bridge.
