I get that revolutionary violence is sometimes necessary but it squicks me out when certain nominally left people seem a little too excited to start doing that violence with a gun

Yeah there's a line between understanding the necessity of violence and fetishizing that violence. Fetishization of violence and retribution is a seed that leads to atrocity if you are ever given real power
