on a tolerance break now, which always makes dreams more vivid. its really made me aware of the amount of stock locations that pop up in my dreams

thing here is that a standard kind of dream for me, for like as long as i can remember, is like...just wandering around a place by myself, generally not talking to anyone. these dreams are very neutral, neither positive nor negative. just there. after they're done i like them, but during the moment they feel quite mundane. a lot of these--a lot!--seem to take place in massive internal spaces like a cruise ship or large hotel/convention center that could host a con. sometimes they're even arcology-like. common location within these massive internal labranthine (but public and non threatening) places is like...picked over buffets? like at a college dining hall in the 30 minutes before its closed when only some stuff is available. also echoes of cruise ship buffets. i have not been on a cruise since i was 12

last nights dream was pretty emblematic of these sorts of things. i was wandering around a massive space that seemed to be a combo of cruise ship, big hotel/casino, and airport. i remember the elevator situation was weird: not every elevator went to every floor. for a while i was walking around what in the dream was officially called "the fifth floor mall" and it was properly the size of a suburban mall, on the fifth floor of this complex. i noted it was more crowded than most malls these days and (at the time under the logic i was on a cruise ship) that i guess when youre a captive audience. specifically remember that in the atrium of this mall (similar to the atrium at the mall at millenia in orlando) there was a "McCormick's" restaurant, presumably related to the spice brand. in this mall i did walk past several dining hall/buffet like establishments

at one point i see an elevator thats just kinda by itself, not at the main elevator lobby, off to the far side of the mall i walked to. i go on it to go to the main floor, but this elevator only goes to like 6 specified floors. i hit "30", the top floor, and watch as i go up through the window to the outside world (it resembles ft lauderdale or someplace similar in the south florida suburban sprawl ecosystem). this elevator takes me: outside, on the patio of the penthouse suite. i have to sneak through this suite to get to the hallway.

stuff like that. sometimes its more outlet mall coded, or airport coded, or increasingly furry con coded. but the base geography is so much tied to the landscape of disney world and the orlando hotel industry that surrounds it. hotels are free to walk around so i did a lot of that as a kid in the area. i wonder if thats why i feel such comfort in large mazelike indoor spaces
