what's a niche topic you have extremely strong opinions on, other than the wookiepedia thing?

as a fairly annoying guy who is likely to get caught up on something basically unimportant i think i have a lot of these.

a pretty big one is that it recently (past couple years) became trendy to call out food writers for using diamond crystal salt which caused people to oversalt their food because diamond crystal is less salty per tsp of salt (its a mass vs volume thing, essentially)
chefs and food writers etc were saying "home cooks dont use enough salt, use more salt" and the diamond crystal defense was going viral like, every month or so.
well its bullshit. home cooks: you are not using enough salt. salt your food more. probably way more. unless you have a specific medical condition and/or words from your doctor telling you to lay off the salt, an extra bit of salt in your homecooking isnt going to hurt you and salt is an important part of flavor balance.
listen to the chefs and food writers, use salt. if you dont believe me about diamond crystal then get yourself some diamond crystal and make a simple salad and 2 salad dressings: one salted with diamond crystal and one salted with equal amounts of mortons or whatever. it will be pretty clear that the difference is negligible.

then if you're really down for the ride, try making a usual recipe and adding like 10-15% more salt to it. imo an easy way to do this is salting your meat before it goes into the pan. just add an extra pinch or two per side and see.
