toaster ovens: i used to slice bagels then toast them because i grew up with a normal toaster that could not accommodate a whole bagel

now i toast the bagel whole and the inside is a beautiful tempur-pedic mattress of bread

What do you do after that? Wouldn't cutting it in half squish the bagel?

with a good serrated bread knife you should be able to let the knife do the work without pushing down hard and squishing the thing you're cutting
