If anything, this makes me appreciate more the webcomics that have gone on as-long/longer, and either finished things properly (8-bit theater) while showing a lot of growth from the 4 panel schema, or have just gotten better and better as they go (Order of the Stick) despite infrequent (understandably) update schedules.

Also reminded me to check up on Order of the Stick again. Check every few years, binge the ten or so posts he managed to get out.

how far in did you get? I'm reasonably sure most of the "Yuki thinks Piro is cute" is wrapped up by like Ch. 3 lol, and we're partway through Ch. 13 now. Makes sense if most of this was written when you made that note of being at [412] which is early Ch. 4.

I think there's a lot to criticize about Megatokyo, and for sure you've given me some stuff to think about. I wish we got to see the reinterpretation of these early chapters in the visual novel (I was a backer hahahaaaaaaa), I'm curious to see how modern Fred would handle that stuff now. But also, these first few chapters are setting up a very different kind of story. I don't think it's wrong to critique it based on what kind of story it was presenting itself to be, but the divergence between the author and the viewpoint character is very clearly deliberate not that far in the future.

Highly recommend, if you continue reading, just checking the Story checkbox down there, which changes the bottom page turn buttons to "find next", that'll skip the DPDs and SGDs and such. Those are kinda better saved for a second readthrough, assuming you ever do one, if you ask me. Maybe catch just the Naze Nani Megatokyos, which I remember being somewhat helpful.

I suppose I also want to offer this about Largo: he isn't disconnected from reality and lacking social skills because he's a gamer, he's just those things, and being a gamer is the most he's felt connected to reality, it's his coping mechanism, his social context, etc. And...it's really not that much of an exaggeration of the real life guy, as far as I can tell.

His Twitter account...sometime in the darkest part of the Trump admin he scrubbed his Twitter account of his identity and started posting as "Your Glorious Sun", which posts a steady stream of tweets festooned with MLP character GIFs claiming to be a goddess who has put a long-running plan in motion to eventually punish right-leaning political figures in a vague but thorough comeuppance. And Fred's definitely mentioned that when they were closer friends he was known for unhinged rants. So. I genuinely don't know what to make of that haha.
