That's it, lads! Rock and Stone!

hey this is a post series done by @Ryyudo that I've piggybacked off of, the aim of his posts is to highlight games with rad music that aren't talked about as much; the games don't necessarily have to be good, but the music can still be jammin', but also I'm cheating because this game's soundtrack is a known quantity of good

My thoughts on each track below the readmore!

Deep Rock Galactic is a series I fell in love with when I fell off of other games and got kinda in a rut. The gameplay loop of Left-4-Dead-adjacent survival while doing objectives is wonderful, and the soundtrack is phenomenal!

Attack of the Glyphids is classic, it sets the tone so well, it's why they use it in so many trailers.

Dance of the Dreadnaught has become the game's version of Freebird for the players and community; when the guitar solo at 0:48 hits, that's when you enter The Flow State. If you can get this song playing during the main event of On-site Refining missions, it's an incredible feeling, getting the surfing music on the surfing mission.

Leave No Dwarf Behind has a special place in my heart because it tells a story. A looming sense of dread as everyone's making their way to the escape pod, having just completed the mission. The veterans know where to go, how to get there, but there's one who lags behind: the new guy, the greenbeard. They get lost in the cave, forget the path they took to get so deep.

They get surrounded, holding off the glyphids but running out of ammo, fast. They're not making any forward progress any more. They accept their fate, knowing that if at least one person is in the escape pod, it's a win for the team.

At 1:35, the song rises and peaks. Hope. The veterans turned back around, came back to help the greenbeard. They help them back to the escape pod, making sure everyone gets out.

Leave no dwarf behind.
