Holy shit, that anecdote about the character lying to your face so brazenly! Now this is the stuff I live for!!!

I have some work stuff to do tonight, so I haven't cracked into it just yet. It doesn't terribly shock me to hear that it's dialed back on a lot of GPM's complexity. I kind of suspected as much from the trailers and whatnot and as much as I admire the sheer breadth of role-playing that game allows, as I imagine you agree, it's definitely a depth that requires me to be in a particular head-space to play for sustained periods. The character dynamics are by far what I always enjoyed most, so to hear Loop 8 does a fine job upholding that legacy is a genuine relief.

How would you say the localization is, out of curiosity? I'll be playing it in Japanese either way, but I'm curious if this game does a better job of avoiding the sort of weird syntax issues and whatnot that GPM is littered with.

AHHHHHH! Thank you for being so kind about my work! :D

GPM is definitely more work. As you say - on a good day and in the right mood that's an amazing thing, and for every other day we have Loop8 :D

I think the text is... I think the nature of the game's systems mean it kinda has to be this way, all choppy and compartmentalised and, well, on loop. I don't feel the English loc had any issues that I wouldn't also expect to seen in the Japanese text, though.

Of course! It legit makes me happy and proud to see you getting to advocate for this sort of stuff on such a mainstream site. If anyone deserves a platform like that for the Japanese games that need it most, it's you! c:

And that's pretty much what I figured the text would be like, yeah. I think I know who probably worked on this game and they turn in quality work, so it's good to hear the structure doesn't wreak too much havoc from the sound of it. Much as I would love to see GPM get a fan translation, I still stand by my assessment that the dialogue system would have to be rebuilt from the ground up because of how much it botches its own native language at times, so if Loop 8 is as close as we get to that particular dream, I'll take it, ahaha.
