a fascinating question posed by a friend of mine: would you rather

  1. be able to video game style double jump
  2. have a video game style mini-map accessible in your head on demand

obviously these are poorly-specified and each could range from "largely useless" to "extremely powerful" depending on which games you pull from, but assume that whatever power level you choose to imagine for one is matched by the other

learning maps is easy fun and free

you too can talk about roads like an uncle and navigate without a phone, much to the bewilderment of 20-year-olds around you

plus every now and again you get to beat google maps but it does have the advantage of knowing the traffic in real time

Double jump, easily. It feels like it’d enable all sorts of fun shenanigans, let me get to places most people ordinarily can’t, whereas the minimap feels like it’d just get in the way of mini-adventures that come from getting mildly lost.

forgot about my phone but the minimap in my head is good and very satisfying to contribute to.

a double jump would be very fun and so practical (what if I need to scale a 6 foot wall really quickly to rob a bank or escape another bank robber, things that definitely happen regularly)
