stop putting garbage in URL parameters

  • URLs weren't supposed to have tracking
  • 30 years of internet but still no reason to put anything but query parameters
  • wanted to make a link unreadable for a laugh? we have a tool for that: it was called url shorteners
LOOK at what web developers have been demanding your Respect for all this time, with all the browsers and javascript frameworks we hacve built for them:

@Kirby703

thank you firefox 120 for allowing me to copy links without this garbage.
edit: only utm parameters?! grrr

can't wait for firefox 121 where clicking on a link or another application opening the link also removes the garbage (ok, that's pure speculation on my part, but the new copy link button is real)

oh, very disappointing. didn't even know utm parameters were standardized; figured it was just a common acronym in use. now it feels like deleting tracking info is solely to get back at google for stuff rather than to benefit the end user
