I tend to be rather insular
I'd say it's always 100% ok to have an emotion about a particular word or concept. And usually, within reason, it's fine to let other people know about that emotion and request accommodations like "hey can you not talk about that stuff so much around me" or whatever. Obviously this can go too far, but it doesn't really sound like you're at risk of like, significantly curtailing other people's freedom of expression, or even of making them feel bad about it. So, at least without any evidence of other people being harmed, I feel like you're totally in the clear on that front.
Of course, you can also try to become more comfortable with (other people's not-directed-at-you utterances of) such words and concepts, and it might be useful to do. But the decision of whether that's good for you to try or not has to be totally up to you and maybe a mental health professional you trust.
Hmm. Thank you for the comment, this is a useful one. Don't know that I have much to say in response but, yeah, thank you.
oh actually I do have something to say 🗿 go read my short story NOW (if you want to o,o)
