Okay so!! "Art" is maybe a little debatable for some, but, that's kinda how it be when you're a video editor who doesn't accrue their own footage/video to edit. There's still an art to the editing done, even if the subject of those edits isn't really one's original work, and I have a lot of fun doing that kinda stuff. I'll be showing four of the videos I've made in the past year, so, it's a bit of a long post hence the read more just below.
Firstly, here's a video I made as a gift for a friend about a year ago. I ran a little event in my friend group akin to a game jam, but for any art medium. This was my project for the first one, and the prompt was to make a work based upon another member of the group. Carl here was a Spelunky speedrunner, as I had once been, and I'd had some experience already with editing the game in a montage-y sorta way. (The context for that one is too lengthy to explain here lol, but the song's Octavarium which is pretty good!) Anyway, I then spent about a week putting together this video:
Included there is a placeholder name I'd had, "Emma," which has since been replaced by my actual name Kiri. I only really thought of that after, oop. I do regret putting my then name in there. And for clarity: Emma is not my deadname either, it was a suggestion from a friend when I wasn't sure what to use.

Second, here's a video of ULTRAKILL I made just last week! It's a game that my local friend introduced me to not too long ago, and it's the first shooter I've found satisfying just to play at all. Helps that the presentation and levels are really good too! So I kinda fell in love with it, I'd probably pin it as my second favourite game tied with co-open, and I was content to leave it at that. Until, due to the 'seamless' (more or less) loading screens in between levels, I considered the possibility of a 'seamless' (for the game's standards) compilation of all the best ranks for each level. It seemed cool! Seamed cool...? So I started grinding out P-ranks on the hardest available difficulty and edited it together in the span of just three days. I'm pretty thoroughly unimpressed with my play now because I watched it so many times, but while creating it I was quite happy with how I'd done! (SPOILERS, of course!)
The edits in this video are quite minor. At the beginning of almost every level, I show a running total of the in-game time given at the end of each level, which takes two forms: first, a simple box labeled "TOTAL TIME:" - intended to look like the results/ranking screen - which gets dynamically cut off rather than disappearing all in one frame (use , and . to look at that frame-by-frame if interested!). The second is an addition to the "Hell map" which shows the total time next to a little flashing arrow that's in the base game. I meticulously keyframed each one of those to match up exactly, which very often couldn't simply be copy and pasted to the next! I'm really happy with how it turned out though!! c: I also did a couple edits outside of those and the obvious run splicing, but they aren't particularly noteworthy.

Next is a compilation of Super Mario Bros. X levels which I'd made over the years! SMBX being a Mario fangame with a level editor created by the Terraria dev(s) before they got bullied by Nintendo and moved onto making that game instead. This video was kinda rushed, but I still think it's a cool showcase of the things I made for that game c:
Finally, here's a bunch of the music I worked on! Mostly for an SMBX project, shown in the above video at the end, but not entirely. Note: I have no background or education in music, I just sorta started making stuff one day in 2018. Expect much skung.
And that's all for now! My next post(s) will likely be some rambles about whatever topics lol, rather than a showcase of my work. And, well, no guarantee I'll be particularly active here anyway - but that's due to me finding it hard to think of things to write/etc. rather than me just neglecting it outright. Same with any of the personal projects I do, really >w>
(also I don't really know how to use tags well lol)
