You wake up in the middle of the night, needing to pee really badly. Slowly and carefully, as to not wake up your friend, you exit your tent and leave for the moonlit woods nearby.

As you find a suitable spot to do your business, you hear a noise nearby. You immediately regret not bringing any light with you but proceed anyway. Just get this over with and return to the tent. It’s probably just the wind.

Having relieved yourself, you hear the noise again. This time, coming from where you came from. You feel a knot form in your chest as you begin slowly walking back towards the camp.

That’s when you see it. A creature unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. It has a body that seems to be too long for its own good with an even longer tail. Bioluminescent pink goo is oozing from its mouth and tail. It appears to be analyzing your campground, looking for something. What that something is, however, you can’t quite tell.

No matter. You take your courage with both hands and begin walking around it as sneakily as you can, making sure to keep track of the creature as you do so.

Just as you make it to the edge of your camp, it notices you. Without moving an inch, it follows your every movement with its piercing gaze. Every step made towards the camp seemingly agitating it more than the last.

You decide to make a run for it and head towards your tent, but it’s too late. You can hear it chasing after you.

It pounces-

I love this way too much. You did a great job on this ^w^.
Also, I see this as an absolute win cuz I get to meet a critter and possibly become a critter too :3.
(also also, Tux did a wonderful job on the art, too)

I'm just thinking about how absolutely terrified I would be if I was alone, at night, in the woods, getting stalked and then charged by a never-before-seen glowing monster, and then it turns out to just be a little guy tryna say hi x3

I've been thinking about this situation for ages, there's so many different angles, like the sheer contrast between each side of the encounter, what must be going through each of their heads, of how - for the unknown creature - it's a split-second decision of what to do after being spotted (and it's inevitable consequences), - for the POV character - the only way to truly find out what it is and what it wants is to end up on the other side of the unknown, like a one way window. They could just as easily have never been spotted and simply continued on with their life never knowing and this would have just been an unnerving few minutes - if they even remember it by morning. It's one of those tiny, razor-thin moments that change everything.
(I also really love the implications of a contagious biohazard setting out to make friends, that's too good xD, Sorry for rambling)
