For a lot of things in my life at the moment Akira Toriyama's passing isn't hitting me as much as I thought it would be but damn he really was a big part of my childhood and so many other's lived experience.
I had a cousin from honduras who lived on a farm and was only sent to school long enough to learn how to read and write mostly so he can read the bible and we took him to a Hastings and when we walked past the anime dvds he got such a huge smile on his face from seeing a Dragon Ball Z movie or dvd set or whatever. Like it can't be overstated how many lives were touched by Toriyama and I'm glad that despite how much this hurts for so many people that his memory and legacy means so much to so many people around the world.
