so, vis canon for a while has been that ve is a master of shadow clones, and constantly has several clones that can help ver keep on top of this in places ve isn't; in game represented as vis retainers.
the ball jointed doll thing is like, elaborating on that, as foxglove has developed them into something more stable, and less taxing to upkeep. vis shadow clone ninjutsus are supplemented by the dolls.
the like, actual foxglove has also gradually gotten less human over time, and so uses a ball joint doll for vis own body. the doll can look more normal if ve spends the energy on that. presumably at some point i might draw the actual shadow foxglove too.
