An update I just posted to Patreon regarding my plans for writing a novel and how I'll minimise the risk of failure
I'm committing to writing a novel, and am considering how I want to handle this.
As I've mentioned before, I want to write a novel, but the largest barrier to that is how risky it is (not taking patreon into consideration). writing a huge story, having sunk a lot of time and effort into it, then having it flop would be a massive blow to me. I really don't want that to happen. if a short story flops, it's unfortunate, but at least it was just a short story.
However, I have an idea for dealing with this.
Thus far, every patreon tier has access to all my exclusive content. I'm thinking I might make it so that patrons at the $12 CAD tier level [Affini tier] and above gain access to WIPs and chapter rough drafts. I'd release the first chapter or two publicly to hopefully give people a taste of what to expect, and give some incentive to join at the higher tier for novel access, but after that most of my novel WIPs would be exclusive.
Of note, this would NOT replace the current arrangement regarding short stories. I will still be writing short stories, and they will all be either fully public or available for all patreon tiers.
With that said, here's the premise:
An erotic-comedy where a vampire invites a bunch of humans to her mansion for a murder mystery party. the guests are informed that one of them is a monster [or otherwise inhuman] in disguise, and that the monster is the murder. however, they're all monsters in disguise, so they all believe that they themselves must have unknowingly become the murderer. they all desperately try to maintain the fragile facade of humanity in the hopes they don't get caught and win the grand prize! horny queer shenanigans ensue!
among the guests will be an android, a dog girl, a tentacle monster, a living doll, a gorgon, a mermaid, a cow girl, and more!
