I just had a really bizarre but really nice and comfortable dream. I can't remember exactly how it started, but I do know that myself and someone I called grandpa (not my actual grandfather's, they passed away some time ago), as well as two orphaned kids?? Were on some kind of roadtrip/ moving into some neighborhood, and we had just finished getting everything set up at this very strangely formatted house. For whatever reason my right leg from just above the knee down was prosthetic, but I still somehow had my original leg with me and I just was carrying it with me anyways and it somehow stayed like preserved??
Anyways, during the morning we got a bunch of visitors from the neighborhood, welcoming us in and whatnot. I was busy kinda staying out of the socializing as expected, fiddling with whatever I could when I somehow was suddenly getting surrounded by all the neighbors cats. They all mostly just stated at me and for some reason I had an app on my phone that could identify them by name? One stood out a lot compared to the others because it had shaggier hair and seemed to have a lot more of a grumpy disposition/aura about it. For some reason it's name was just Black X, which didn't even make sense because it was a gray cat with some white tufts here and there. But knowing that somehow gave me enough information to tell me this was supposed to be the really mean and unfriendly cat of the whole neighborhood.
Instead it immediately got attached to me to the point where it followed me inside. For reasons beyond my comprehension, some of the neighborhood kids were also in my new house despite none of the rest of the families having entered at all, something about trying to get free repairs (thanks work for poisoning my dreams), and I had to basically shoo them out. But eventually as the commotion died down, I went to my room, Black X was still following me around, and when I went to lay down on my bed, the weird cat app dinged at me and wanted to "measure the bond between me and my (neighbor's) cat". I kinda ignored it and tried to get to sleep but when I did, Black X actually ended up curling up with me and I felt like I fell asleep for hours with that cat. I "woke up" and looked at my phone and jy claimed that Black X was my "soul cat". I got a really weirdly fuzzy feeling about that but then it woke up and darted off into the unknown. I was attempting to go inform "grandpa" in the middle of the night for some reason when I... just woke up.
I think the thing that hit me the hardest was just how real everything felt for a while even down to falling asleep within the dream only to wake up to a cat napping on me. It was eerily comfortable...
