I looked up that Russian chess player who (allegedly) used mercury to try to poison her opponent in a chess tournament and her FIDE rating is 1776? That's not good enough at chess to care so much you are poisoning people over it. You need to be at least 2000 to be playing the Mercury Gambit

sometimes when i hear about people doing murderous intrigues type stuff it almost seems like they're doing it to make their motives feel more serious, like damn i'm really playing in the big leagues now if i'm willing to take a human life and risk jail for this. hard to know what really goes on in peoples' minds though.
I mean, if they were better then they wouldn't need poison in the first place.
