There's a new initiative in the department I work in to give everyone 4 hours of uninterrupted training time. The nice thing about this is that it's we're allowed to use any of the resources available to us, from the ones that the company pays for (LinkedIn Learning, Pluralsight) to third party vendors, and the curriculum is allowed to be completely self-directed so as long as we can come up with some justification to tie it into something business related. So that's exciting.
Anyway, I decided to start taking some entry level Cybersecurity courses as I rub shoulders with the folks in that department on the regular and it seems like pretty interesting stuff to make a career out of, but fucking christ every one of these videos has got to be presented by the most joyless type of nerd imaginable. These dudes are so indistinct and lacking in charisma that you probably'd struggle to pick them out of a lineup of one. Maybe it's just the ADHD talking, but I cannot imagine being able to focus on this long enough to glean anything usable from a guy who sounds like the mom from Peanuts reading a Wikipedia article.
I realize the big revelation I've had here is "Turns out dudes in Infosec are pretty boring" but you get what I mean.
