What a weird email I just got. So, last week an employee came forward to say that Paradox had quietly fired most of Harebrained Schemes, the creators of Battletech and recent Shadowrun games. The explanation is that Paradox couldn't own these licenses, so there was nothing in it for them.
Off the back of that troubling news, the publisher just sent out the news that they are cutting ties with (what remains of) the studio completely.
Personal commentary here: I dunno what happened to Paradox. I used to really love this company, but somewhere after the release of Crusader Kings II, they have made a change that just doesn't sit right with me.
I can't help but wonder that they're leaving this talented studio to fend for themselves, in a way that's, at best, going to leave them scrambling to latch onto a project, before the overhead essentially does them in.
