why exactly are there so many games lately that look like something I might play, but they're really just Live Service games that are forced to be MMOs so there's a central server (and sometimes anti-cheat rootkits) to sell cosmetic items.
it has to cost more to run a central server, license the anti-cheat rootkit, etc, than just make a game you can play with friends and sell some microtransaction dlcs. like, the cheating cheaters gonna cheat, and meanwhile I don't want to spend a single cent or even my time (in the case of free-to-pay) on a dead game walking. especially if it isn't even finished yet.
