Understandably a lot of focus on layoffs today. Meanwhile, Nintendo is currently trying to set a legal precedent that would be a death kneel for games preservation.
The majority of works from this art medium are no longer in physical print or currently available for digital sale. The only thing keeping them accessible today is (a) emulation and (b) piracy.
You can do whatever mental gymnastics you want to carve out exceptions here, but the precedent Nintendo would set by winning this case would have a chilling effect on all emulation development. This is a direct threat to this history and culture.
