PLEASE if you are making a game, spend some time making controls re-assignable. "I can't walk and jump at the same time because default controls don't work for me and I can't change them" is a very bad feeling.

Related to this: If you still don't make them re-assignable, at least don't use Z / X / C. Z and Y are swapped on German keyboards which makes it basically impossible to play your game.

¹this is is fine if they only check for entering "/" as text because then i can enter it, but some software assumes there needs to one specific keypress to do this

I use dvorak layout for day-to-day typing, so when I make game engines, I like using the underlying HID codes so that the default control layout is at least mostly agnostic to the player's keyboard layout (and I appreciate other games that do too). But I wish OSes had a facility to mapping hid codes to their key labels in the current layout so that messages can present them that way.
