A lot of villainess content is overtly referencing the popular image of Marie Antoinette as a naive victim of circumstance. Often times this is just played for comedy, as in Tearmoon Empire, but it does also contribute to the generally quite weird political text/subtext of villainess stories specifically and romance manga/manhwa/manhua generally.
