man remember when the floyd protests really kicked off after a bunch of people burned down a goddamn police station and then political analysts did a bunch of polls and basically everyone in the country was like "ehhhhh I dunno man it sucks but like, seems like a reasonable response tbh"

I forget the exact numbers but basically Burning Down A Police Station polled better than any politician in the country lmao

Even half the right wing boomers were like "well what did they expect to happen"

we didn't see the polls at the time so we can't attest that it was really that favorable but

yeah. the protestors had clear moral authority, the fucking cops had none, and have none. it's nice that everyone can see that.

contemporary polling by Monmouth university: https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/reports/monmouthpoll_us_060220/

Have you heard about the protests across the country, including the burning of a police precinct in Minneapolis, in reaction to a recent incident where a black man died when a police officer kneeled on his neck, or have you not heard about this?

97% had heard

Given what happened, do you think the actions of the protestors were fully justified, partially justified, or not at all justified?

"Fully justified": 17%
"Partially justified": 37%
"Not at all justified": 38%
"Depends on which protest," "don't know," or hadn't heard: 8%

Regardless of the actual actions taken, do you think the anger that led to these protests was fully justified, partially justified, or not at all justified?

"Fully justified": 57%
"Partially justified": 21%
"Not at all justified": 18%
"Depends on which protest," "don’t know," or hadn't heard: 4%
