I am decidedly unimpressed by my most recent fic and it's fanficified to hell anyways1 but! I have rewarded myself by rereading past event entries and some of them are way better than I remembered. All of these are set in an annual festival honoring the setting's goddess Death, who is the biggest sweetie-pie of a deity you'll ever read about and her festival is great:

  • "For Love of Fireworks" (3500 words): Two kukuri go to a festival. They're not really clear on what festivals are, but they sure go to it. Set in Mahriti and Vasda's early adulthoods, when they're done physically growing but sure are young and dumb (affectionate) still.
  • "Energetic Efforts" (1900 words): Despite her efforts, Mahriti finds herself challenged to a trash-off at the same festival many years later.
  • ""Hello, Dirt!" (2600 words): I would describe Tancho as "the youngest and dumbest of them all". He helps! It's even helpful for real! We need not discuss the internal screaming of the stranger dragged into this. They're friends now!

You can read these on the internet right now! Or not! I'm not your boss.

  1. By which I mean it presumes quite a lot of foreknowledge of the characters and maybe some referenced events. It's probably not illegible but it's just not going to be great to read blind, I suspect.
