i never had a thinkpad with a thinklight but every time i see this thing i'm just like "god that would be so useful!" like if you had some handwritten notes that you were transferring into a word processor document? easy, just hold the notes up to the light. good luck doing that with a backlit keyboard

older thinkpads in general had incredible industrial design, i miss the little latch you had to use to open the top.

the idea was probably to keep it closed in a bag and what not, but it just had a really neat tactile feel for "i am going to use the computer now"

I really really miss my thinklights, the actual computer bit of the laptop just got too old to reasonably use anymore. At least there's still features like the "disable microphone" button and the built in webcam privacy shutter. Would still prefer to have the thinklight, I remember working on papers in the dark and using the light to copy notes over.
