up in Seattle, in the neighborhood of Ballard, there's a little triangle where Ballard Ave meets Market St, and in it is a little space for a tree, and in the fifteen years i've regularly been passing by or sitting in this space, there has never been a tree that lasted longer than a year.
there's lots of old maple trees on both Market St and Ballard Ave, but people just don't seem to like any tree put in that particular spot
