I missed they released METRO PULSE in 2022 but god it feels good to listen to a Capsule album that isn't a letdown. Basically everything since Caps Lock has been a huge bummer for me either because the production just wasn't there or it was clear that Nakata was just more interested in KPP/Perfume/whatever other stuff he had going at the time.
METRO PULSE is definitely going for 'a thing' more than any of their other works have, it's very very deliberately rolling off the wave (heh) of late 80s/early 90s synthpop that we are still aflood in. But it's good! Toshiko's voice is perfect for this sound and the album is just a good solid 45 mins of bops with very little downtime to it. Highly recommend!
