on the Old Internet (Usenet era) when information about companies was not instantly searchable and press releases were published in paper magazines you had to buy, there was a running gag about unreliable video game rumors originating from "that kid at school whose uncle works at Nintendo" who would tell their friends any made up nonsense just to impress them

this joke is lost on Cohost where 126% of the userbase is video game developers
