This is painted with liquitex acrylic gouache which I've been playing with.

My process is probably a little messier than these paints were really intended for, as you can make big flat shapes with them, but I ended up needing to go over the white area with some normal acrylic to get rid of previous paw placements.

I've never been one to record my drawing sessions digitally because I thought it would seem strange to people how much I destroy while I hunt for the image I am making, but paint leaves the subtle ghost of it in ways that I cannot completely erase, and that is new and interesting to me.

When it came to both twitter and tumblr, Dags became most popular things I drew, and I leaned into them, since social media loves consistency and theme.

I'm a relatively verbose person about everything but my own work. I found the Dags to be just familiar enough to people to speak for themselves. They seem to not need much pretense for people to engage with it, and create their own narrative. Not needing to be vulnerable was appealing, and in the migration to twitter, I felt like I was not concise enough to say what I meant with the character limit anyway, so I would just post Dags and run.

I've been spending a lot of time thinking about what's next for me and my work though, independent of what people like on social media. Dags may still be in there, but I've been enjoying feeling free from them, as well.

I still intend to keep my new work to myself until next year. Until then I can share and talk about where I've been.
