me, for a year and a half of Guilty Gear Strive: does not play Ky Kiske

me, the other morning, after not having played Strive for like a month: "okay but what if I just picked Ky and went into ranked to see what happens"

man.

Sometimes, a fighting game doesn't really, perfectly, click until you find that one character-and that honestly was Strive for me. Sure, I liked plenty, but it took a wild hair to find the one that opened my third eye.

Ky's not normally that choice for me. I like Big Movement characters. In UNIST, it was Linne; in GBVS it was Metera; in SF it's Juri, etc. Here, that'd honestly probably be Chipp or I-No, and they're fine. Millia sorta got there.

But then this plain boy comes along and just...damn, I get Guilty Gear neutral more now.

I got a ways to go yet, mind you. I'm not fully using his kit, I gotta 5K more. I need to learn to stop trying to 2D out of pressure before it's safe. But, if nothing else, I finally have a kit that feels comfortable to do all that with.

Fighting games are so dang good, though. It feels rad to be back in this saddle after being touch-and-go on Strive a little bit!
