a silly thing about hoptix: wavedashing/wavelanding backwards (without turning around) is a bit of an advanced technique, and all it does is look cool without offering any gameplay advantage whatsoever
there are two methods to do this! the first is that there are very shallow angles, close to straight down but not quite, which will cause you to wavedash in a direction without actually running in that direction. the second is inputting your direction, wavedashing, and resetting the stick to neutral before you regain control of rocket.
both methods are difficult enough for me that i can only consistently backdash to the right, which i think is so fun! if melee has techniques that are so hard that players get known for being good at doing them in one direction but not the other (moonwalking, ledgedashing) why can't i??
