Trying to get into crokinole but boards are expensive, I don't want to throw that much money at something I don't know I'll stick to and I don't know where I could find something like that locally without just like. Making it I guess.

Yeah the price is maybe the only bad thing about the game. You can improve play on cheaper tables by using gliss/carrom powder though! Cheaper here still means, like, 100 dollars are so, but not a bad as like a $400 Tracey tournament.
