As a former abused child. As someone who's had to deal with the abused and the abusers in a professional setting. I hope they both die in prison. Badly. Shame it's not my state, so I probably won't ever meet either during their time.

I just fucking can't with this one.

It doesn't help their case that there's a lot of evidence that they brought against their own selves. At one point, the mother tried pretending that she's deaf. One day, I figured "fuck it". I start talking to her and covering my mouth by scratching my nose or whatever. Heard me just fine.

She put that bs in writing too. I have that saved and submitted to detectives. I bet she heard the police just fine when they came for her so I HOPE she tries to play deaf and dumb again.

The crying shame is that this girl was her granddaughter. Mother couldn't take care of her and she went to the grandmother.

That's fucking depraved. Nobody deserves that - especially not a six-year-old kid.

If they're just now being arrested, I imagine the detectives were probably waiting on a grand jury for a bill of indictment and/or a subpoena (maybe for something like medical records). Whatever the case, hopefully the trial can move swiftly now and some justice can be served.

And hopefully their other kids can still have some chance of turning out okay.

I'm not sure what the delay was unless autopsies take longer than I thought. Detectives were immediately at th school interviewing former teachers, the nurse, and special education leads. Also spoke with me and the principal to find ways to get all written communications that could be used to build a case in trial.

This was back in May.

Aside from any time it takes to conduct the investigation and build a case, there can also be procedural stuff which slows things down. In about half the states, for example, felony cases are required to be brought before a grand jury before someone can even be indicted, let alone be found guilty or not in a trial. And back when I was called for grand jury duty about a year-and-a-half ago, we were hearing cases from a couple months prior, so that delay (unfortunately) tracks with my experiences.

Thanks, I'm fine. As a school, we went above and beyond to help this girl when all we had was suspicions. Our interim principal and nurse even put themselves at risk investigating the diapers question which led to the false allegations

This situation will forever instill in me a distrust of anyone that gives me that "ick factor" even once. And that gut feeling when you sense that a parent gives preferential treatment to one child over the other, especially if the other is not biological, should always be followed up on.
