thinkin about programming a script to do it but i think it would be stupid to naively go through every image one by one, store the hash in memory, and compare the current file's hash with everything in memory before either storing it as well or deleting the file.
If you do not fear the command line then jdupes or fdupes will work
search my files might also work, but i havent tried it myself. It's a gui though so it'll be more useable than fdupes
if you take the scripting route, then unfortunately yeah the process you described is pretty much the best way to do it. yes it is silly.
ya its a little silly but it would be much easier to code it naively than trying to set up nightmarish contraption of libraries and tools and things i dont know how to use, and it would just work
