The only thing that really matters when you do your thing is how famous you are to begin with?
I can spend like two days editing a video, but in the end it will get like 9 views, no matter how good I thought it was. Yeah, I know, nobody watches my videos or streams because they don't know they exist to begin with, but it's a bit disheartening when there's nothing you can really do about it.
It's pretty much the same with making games too. Like, sure, my games have been tiny and somewhat lacking lately, the cover art could certainly have been more enticing and who knows what else, but what does that matter? You won't get more than than a dozen or two plays anyway because people mainly just play stuff they see on YouTube or whatever.
And social media is the same too. Yeah, right, you will naturally grow an audience if you have meaningful conversations and whatnot, but how is that supposed to work when you can only find memes, bad takes and other shallow attention grabs? I mean, there are posts conductive to fruitful discussion too, but they're too few and too hard to find to really help.
So, yeah, the only thing a pleb like me can do is bash my head against the wall and hope it helps. Gladly, I'm really good at that at least, but it still hurts. And it's often scary and hopeless. Like, I need to reveal and crowdfund the Next Big Thing soon unless I want to live in a hole in the ground covered by a sheet of tarpaulin, but I just don't see how it could go well at this rate. π
