You come to the river. It wasnt where you originally crossed, and while the map said you could cross here, there wasnt a bridge like the first crossing. there was just a wire stretched across the calm water, anchored into a large tree on either end, with a small dock just under it.
And the scolipede pooltoy. It seemed content to bask in the sun, but looked up excitedly as you got closer. You noticed it was connected to the wire with a runner. Like a ferry. It sidled up close t o the dock, bucking its inflatable saddle invitingly. Ok, this large pooltoy WAS the ferry. You sighed and wondered if youd rather get your feet wet using this, or walk the, you check the map, 3 miles down the river to cross there.
You climb aboard, clumsily, but the scolipede doesnt mind. As soon as you get comfortable, it squeaks loudly, and sets off gently from the dock. Its not an unpleasant ride. Its big enough that your boots barely touch the surface of the water. Its not fast by any means, and gives you plenty of time to look up and down the river, appreciating the lovely sun and the view. You almost feel like you could sit here in the middle of the water forever.
And then youre at the other side. The scolipede squeaks loudly to announce your arrival. You disembark, feeling happier and lighter from the experience. You fail to notice that during the trip, your tail took on a similar plastic shine as the scolipede.
