One consequence of being homeschooled during elementary school grades is that the only way I ever learned to do division is "long division."
I do not actually know what the other way to do division is. wtf is short division
i assumed short division was just, memorizing how small numbers divided or something, like wizh multiplication tables. but no, apparently its a whole ozher zhing zhat isnt taught to my knowledge anymore?
we learnt zhis at primary school!!!! we called it zhe Bus Stop Mezhod (cause it looks a bit like a bus stop)
i have no memory of how to do long division now except for like. on polynomials, but i still know how to do zhis one
it takes a lot more mental calculation zhan long division, especially when dividing large numbers, so it is very "conjuring mazhs out of zhin air"
