deciding to rip off nemesis instead, players are korps agents breaking into a skyscraper to do various tasks, one main one for the group, and a minor one each. The cops & superheroes show up as you cause a ruckus, they have 1 to 6HP, when you attack you roll a d8 and cause 1HP of damage if you roll over how much HP they have, with 7 being a fumble where you have setbacks and 8 being a crit which does things depending on your weapon.

The map is constructed of rooms, rooms are connected by doors, doors can be sealed to block movement.
Each room has an action you can do while in it (at a higher cost than if your character class could do it), and a type of item associated with it. Items are pulled from decks of item cards. Rooms can be trashed, (usually) preventing you from doing those things until it's fixed.
Rooms have security ratings, you gotta roll higher than that on a d8 when you enter a room or the room's alarm status goes up
alarms go None ➡️ Caution ➡️ Warning ➡️ Alert ➡️ cops arrive
cops are drawn from a deck and get a token on the board, they move to areas with higher alarm statuses, or move towards players if in an adjacent room, and attack players in the same room, some have special abilities. All cops have hp, roll over it when attacking to reduce their hp, 0 puts them out of play
Players take setbacks when attacked, fumbling an attack, and few other things, you can take up to 3 minor setbacks which don't impact anything else, after that you start taking major setbacks which have various penalties.
If a cop causes you setbacks and their HP plus your number of majors is more than 8 then you're defeated.

Players take actions with action cards, each class gets a set of 10, at the start of your turn you draw until you have 6 in hand. you discard the card when you take an action, some actions mean discarding a number of other action cards too.
Some abilities are common to all classes, like searching for items. Some classes have similar abilities that do the same broad thing but with differences. Like Mindbender gets Ransack, discard an action card to draw one item card, but R&D gets Search, where they discard an action card, draw 3 and pick 1 item, or draw 1 even if the room is trashed. Or Mindbender getting Telekinesis, seal or unseal one door, versus R&D's Lockdown, discard an action card to open or close all doors for the room they're in.
Each also gets a special mechanic, like SCIENCE! above there, or Mindbender's Nose Bleed ability, which lets them reduce hp by 1 more with successful attacks at the cost of taking a setback at the end of their turn.
