Discord is free.
No hosting fee. No setup. No hassle. Anyone with a web browser that can run modern HTML5 can access it. It has app access. Lot's of things that come as a premium, beyond the cost of hosting itself.
Are there, legitimately, any platforms that offer you free hosting, wiki services, and forum access en-masse, and dedicated applications, all in one package?
I loathe Discord being used for these things, and I am not excusing it.
But the internet of old where you could just do these things without a dime is long gone.
I'd just as soon be happy with Discords being publicly accessible online, as I would another platform entering in its stead with the dedicated purpose of sharing information.
