Been seeing some heated posts, and it reminds me why I dislike the moralization of social website use. "Cohost is a website with a strong core demographic with hard edges and imperfections" basically lets me navigate most drama on the site. I can acknowledge its failures, without feeling the need to boycott or otherwise burn it down.
I think most detractors have a point. I think the admins can be a little too sassy for their own good. I would describe most of cohost as "feature less" than featureful.
Overall, I still enjoy this website and I'm quite glad it exists. It's imperfect. But imperfect websites are still valuable.
With that in mind, I don't really feel the need to go to bat for Cohost on everything. Especially when the site is clearly lacking, or just taking unorthodox routes. Similarly, I feel kind of disgusted by the "boycott everything that isn't the One True Morally Righteous Website" types too.
I wish people could just be more normal about this stuff. IMO, let people be mad without going pitch-fork mode or defense mode.
