How did Dad rock turn into grampa rock I ask myself before realizing I somehow transformed from a child into an adult of childrearing age
There's Grampa Metal now. Thrash metal started 40 years ago. The earliest albums called heavy metal like Led Zeppelin IV and Black Sabbath's paranoid came out 50 years ago. Time marches on and tramples all of us into antiquity, and soon hip-hop and synthpop will hear the stomping of the clockwork boots in the distance. Dubstep's almost in high school. Witness ages as they tail off behind us, until they take us with them and we say things like "it's been a decade I still don't quite understand 100 gecs"
I should technically errata my original post: LZIV came out in 1971 and Paranoid was 1970, so they are actually more than 50 years old, I forgot for a moment it was 2024. We are rocketing towards the punk explosion crossing that threshold, too. Hands of the century clock, etc. Etc.
