I am on mobile but dropdowns aren't even allowed on vidya gaem consoles! We use option steppers for our menus, and they look like this:

First Option Selected ⏩
⏪ Last Option Selected

if i plan on transitioning anything i will usually just slap a body { transition: .3s } at the start of the stylesheet and never fails me
