YEAH, Japan has a bunch of archaic laws. idk if you've heard of the "spouses need to share the same last name" law that people have been struggling to change for decades to little success. And that's for cis people who just want to use different names from their spouses, it is monumentally harder for trans and gay folks to have their marriages/children recognized by the state, it sucks. I'm glad that Hiroshima ruled this way and hoping that this can push things back in the right direction
that sounds familiar, there is still a lot of change needed and I hope these positive steps keep happening! it is so frustrating how slow this process can be.
tfw japan has a "better" supreme court than the US
Hahaha hopefully the Japanese equivalent of the Supreme Court agrees and we see these laws changed nationwide instead of just by region
(same for the US)
