fucking insane to me that banana bread was people trying to make do with eating rotten fruit because of a certain historical depression cause when you have a slice it's nothing but pure comfort.
There's some real tragedy behind the story of Indigenous American bannock with how the ingredients were forced because of the absolute poor state of rations Indigenous folks were given during even worse times, but it remains an amazing yet simple dish that can be greatly enjoyed even just by itself or with butter.
Poor people: actually puts thought into recipes
Rich people: wraps beef in bread and calls it a delicacy
(disclaimer, I've never tasted beef wellington)
(but really though it isn't exactly complex)
