I'm seriously considering shelving the Gunship project for the time being, perhaps indefinitely. It's just not really coming together how I'd like, and I think that, combined with an amount of burnout after Flipside, is really draining my drive to work on it. I have a story idea for it that I think is interesting, but I don't know if it's anything that other people would be interested in/care about. Maybe if I do scrap the game I'll do a short story summary here, but idk!

I could always go back to some other ideas I've had kicking around too, or I could just sorta soldier on I suppose. I could also just scrap the bits that are annoying me, and solely work on what I think works, but even then I feel like I've lost the majority of my momentum. Still, it feels like a waste to have been working on something for a month or two and just decide to drop it altogether. Sunk-cost, etc.

I empathize! It's terrible to feel like you dumped time into something that's not working.

In my experience, the best parts of old ideas bubble up to the surface in new ways! Focus on the parts you're drawn to. If you're making something you like, the rest will follow, regardless of how productive you feel you are or aren't being :host-love:
