Was looking up the history of games with an isometric viewpoint (as one does), and I found an interesting game that I've never heard of: La Abadía del Crimen
Basically, it's a murder mystery based on a book called The Name of The Rose, but it involves collecting items around an abbey while going to religious ceremonies, meals, and bed at night. All the while, you have an NPC helper(?) or companion who you can swap to controlling if you need to. If you mess up/miss events, the abbot throws you out and it's game over. Seems really compelling, but this is also just based on info from wikipedia, so who knows. Interested in looking into this more though!
