crytters was a monster-raising game/art concept project i did for a while many years ago, themed around the concept of a simplified animal/vegetable/mineral trio of types. designing creatures and mock-up stuff for fake little games like this is mostly what i do in general! but i was working on crytters at a particularly shitty time in my life and it has a lot of negative memories attached to it unfortunately. so, i figured instead of letting the stuff languish on an old defunct twitter account of mine, i may as well share a bunch of old stuff from it on here!

starters these were the starters, vegetable-type daisidoo, animal-type pinkidink, and mineral-type stalagbit

scatterpillar wyrmanzana wyrmental wyrmerry the scatterpillar line was sorta the eevee equivalent, being able to evolve into three different forms of the three types

old starters old animal evos older concepts for the starters. not sure if they ever had proper names? i do still really enjoy the whack-a-mole prairie dog, hence why i only have its evolutions to share

star tomato corn alien minijed incognubis reggal hissinboot musicreep birhded advertismiss deebee few more random ones. pinkidink and splegg were always the two i considered the mascots for crytters in my mind, took a long time to get a splegg evolution design i liked. and yeah, some creepier ones because juxtaposing cute with out-of-place creepiness is extremely fun.

rare spleggs yeah i really liked splegg so at the time i also made some cute little rare variations of it :-)

bedroom antique store town street truckstop Not NASA and lastly some of the environment pics i did back then. the alien vegetables would've lived around the NASA-esque place, and musicreep would've been found in an antique store.

so yeah that's the greatest hits of crytters pretty much! thinking about doing a few more posts like these with compilations of other old odds-and-ends, depends on how my brain feels later on!

I know you mentioned this was from a really rough patch of your life, but I had to let you know that I think this was really really cool? Your designs are interesting, especially the creepier ones. Music boxes are something that already make me feel creeped out, so a monster-version is really something I can appreciate.
